Zabitatz: Inspiration for YOUR home

Everyone loves the twinkle of holiday lights but most of us dread the holiday electric bill. Here are some ways you can have that magical twinkle without breaking the bank:

LED. LED lights use as little as 1/50th the electricity of standard holiday lights. They’re cool to the touch and great for indoors or outdoors. They’re a little more expensive but will last longer and save you one your energy bill.

Less is more. Use fewer lights without lessening the sparkle by pairing them with reflective surfaces. Use shiny ornaments on the tree that will reflect the light. Place mirror behind lights on the mantle.

Time it. Timers can make a world of difference. And you won’t have to run around the house turning the lights on and off. Set them to come on right before you arrive home for a welcome greeting.

Make a simple statement. Instead of stringing up thousands of light on your trees and home, make a simpler statement with a few spotlights on simple wreaths or light up one simple tree. While your house won’t be seen from outer space, you’ll still have that holiday glow.

So, go ahead, give your holiday some sparkle without regretting it later.
