Zabitatz: Inspiration for YOUR home

You should always be looking for new ways to make your life and your home environmentally friendly. Here are just a few more ideas to get you going.

  1. Bamboo sheets. Bamboo is not only eco friendly, it’s soft and silky. Treat yourself to some luxury in your bedroom.
  2. Pull out the slow cooker. Slow cookers use less electricity than ovens and stoves. Now’s the perfect time to pull out those yummy soup recipes.
  3. Hang it all out. Hang your clothes to dry instead of using the dryer. Even when the weather’s not cooperating, you can use an indoor drying rack to hang your clothes on.
  4. Give your heating system a little TLC. Having your heating system cleaned and maintain can save you money and save energy. So don’t be afraid to make a little upfront investment to have a well running heating system in place for winter.
  5. Green up your Cup O’ Joe! Using a reusable mug is a good start. Try out a French Press to eliminate the need for filters and look for Fair Trade and Organic beans when you shop.

A French press, also known as a press pot, coffee press, coffee plunger or cafetière, is a simple filterless coffee brewing device, probably invented in France in the 1850s, but first patented by Attilio Calimani in 1931.

SO WHERE DOES ONE GET THIS PRESS?

Starbucks carries them but you should be able to find them in any cookware store or department. French press is by far the best way to brew coffee it brings out all the best flavors in addition to being re-useable. You'll want to get a coarser grind than you'd use for paper filters and drip.
