Falling leaves...here comes the yard work!

Fall is definitely here in New England. The leaves are bright hues of red, orange, and yellow. Ahh, the beauty is breath-taking. But I can't help but acknowledge the looming yard work that comes when all those beautiful leaves fall.

Our first daunting task however is moving all the cord wood we bought in the spring into our shed for the winter. Last weekend we moved the small amount of wood we had left from last year into our mud room and started our first fire in our wood stove. I love the smell of burning wood and that warm toasty feeling. So, since we've had a dry week, I think this weekend will be the weekend to start the moving. Then there's the shed doors that need to be fixed and the leaves to rake and the deck furniture to bring in.....

So, next time someone tells me I'm crazy for looking forward to winter, I think I'll point out that there are no gardens to tend, lawns to mow, leaves to rake, or weeds to pull in the winter. Of coarse there is snow to shovel but we have a short driveway so that doesn't count :-)
