I'm never moving again - Not because I have more things than I know what to do with; not because I was able to fill a 26 foot U-Haul to the brim; not because I also was able to fill up a pickup truck with a 16 foot tralier - TWICE; not because of the rain which only fell at the most inconvenient times, and stopped when I was finished with any tasks requiring me to go out side - I'm never moving again because I think our new house is great!

No matter how many you have - it seems like you can never get enough boxes. In fact, we have boxes, we have bins, we have bags - we have just about gone out of our minds. With less than one week until closing, the push is on to get everything packed. It seems like we started months ago, and I continually wonder where all this "stuff" comes from. Perhaps it is that I box something up, then put it into a bigger box with other small boxed-up items. Or perhaps it is that we have way too much stuff!… Continue

With our house sold and the final negotions going on for the house we are purchasing - along with a looming closing date 5 weeks away - we have begun to think about packing. Our first step; come up with a plan.

We probably aren't going to use our dining room between now and the time we move so we've made that our staging area for items to be moved. I dis-assembled our dining room table by removing the legs and we've stacked the chairs up, and stood the table top on end to conserve space. I plac… Continue

As luck would have it we found several houses on the market in our price range or just out of our range that we thought would be good candidates. We were looking for:

a) more space
b) good schools
c) privacy
d) garage
e) pool or waterfront (optional)

We found a house that met every criteria except for (e) that was a bit above our range. Because the house was currently empty and had been on the market for several months, we thought we might be able to make a low offer and get it at a reasonable… Continue

Our house has been on the market for just under 3 months. In that time we reduced the price by $5,000 once from our original asking price (still $20,000 under what it was evaluated for). We just signed a purchase & sales agreement for about $7,000 under our original asking price - success! We know we would take a bit of a loss, but by mitigating that loss and accepting that it would happen makes it an easier pill to swallow.
