Update your kitchen with a few easy projects. Change the hardware on your cabinets for a completely new look, swap out the old curtains for some fresh new ones, and clear the clutter by putting any appliances that you don’t use at least twice a week in a cabinet out of the way.
Make a big impact to a room by giving it a fresh coat of paint. Start in the morning by cleaning and prepping the walls. Paint your first coat, enjoy a lunch break, and add another coat. Let the paint dry while you have dinner and put everything back in its place before you head to bed.
Clean out a cluttered closet. Set a reachable goal of cleaning out one closet. Get rid of things you don’t need and store the remaining items using clear containers so you always know what you have. Get rid of any clothes that you haven’t worn in the last year.
Clean out that vanity and linen closet in your bathroom. Get rid of open products that you haven’t used in the last three months, make a note of any unopened products so you know what you have, and sort products by their use (summer skin care, make-up, hair products, nail polish, soap/shampoo, etc.)
Tidy up the garage from all the summer chores. If you don’t already have them, use hooks to hang tools, sports gear, and even bikes off the floor. Once you’ve organized, give the floor a good sweep.
Change out old pictures and frame new ones. Set a day to update your current picture frames and add new ones if you have room. Make sure to order your prints in advance or head out in the morning to your favorite one-hour photo shop. Swap out photos (or even just switch photos between rooms) for a subtle change to your décor.
Say goodbye to summer and put away all your summer things. Clean up your outdoor furniture and bring it indoors. Clean and store kids yard toys, water guns, and sprinklers. Move your summer wardrobe to another closet or store under the bed.
Before you shop for new fall décor, get rid of any accessories or décor items that you are tired of or no longer enjoy. Don’t keep items that you don’t really enjoy. It’s better to have less of what you love than more of what you don’t.
Reorganize the kitchen. Pull everything out of the pantry and make a list before returning to it home. Keep this list with you when you grocery shop and update the list as you use items. Take a look at all your pots and pans and get rid of any that are damage or have lost their non-stick coating. Get rid of any chipped glasses or dishes.
Clean fans and light fixtures. These often forgotten accessories can gather dust and grime. Remove lamp shades and wipe fabric lamp shades with a damp rag and mild soap. Use glass cleaner for glass, plastic, or ceramic shades. Replace any burnt out bulbs. And dust stands and fan blades.
