With the big game only a week away, you’re probably finalizing plans on where to watch. If that location just happens to be your house — and, you just happened to be having a few (ok, more than a few) friends over — you’re probably looking at a to-do list a mile long. Here are some ways to simplify your list and make sure that you get to watch the game too.
Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff. Chances are, your fellow sports fans won’t be spotting the dust bunnies under your couch. Focus on the critical areas and forget about the rest.
- Make sure the TV is clean and dust free so you have a clear view of the game.
- Do a quick clean out of the fridge to make room for snacks and drinks. (And to make sure your guests don’t reach in for a soda and come out with something rotten.)
- Make sure the bathroom is clean and fresh.
Pre-Game Preparation. If you’re planning on actually watching the game with your friends, preparation is key.
- Make a list before heading out to the grocery store to avoid multiple trips.
- Stock up on drinks. Make sure you have enough for your guests and buy a variety. If you think you will be short on fridge space, but some ice and keep extra beverages stocked in a cooler.
- Prepare lots of snacks that can be pulled out and served during a commercial break or time-out.
-
- Chips and dips
- A crock-pot full of chili
- Pre-cut veggies
- Fruit and Cheese
- Have a half-time game plan. Have a pizza of hot appetizers ready to come out of the oven for half-time for extra happy guests.
Post-Game Clean-Up. Whether your team won or lost, clean-up is never any fun. Take a few precautions during the game to make clean up a breeze.
- Make sure to have a recycling bin out for your guests to put their beverage containers in.
- Stick with finger foods that don’t need lots of dishes or silverware to eat.
- Make sure all your serving dishes are dishwasher safe.
- Make a quick sweep during commercial breaks to pick up trash and put dishes in the dishwasher.
So, no matter who you’re rooting for, make game day stress free and fun for all!
