Our town has mandatory recycling. When we first moved there, we came from an apartment where it was difficult to impossible to recycle. Once we started recycling I realize how much we were needlessly throwing away. It was hard at first to get in the habit of recycling but now it's just part of our routine and it makes me feel good when we head to the dump with one back of trash and 10 bags of recycling.
I recycle as well. I've also recently purchases some of the reusable grocery bags from my grocery store. They were only $1 a piece and I love them for things other than groceries. They're great to transport items on vacations or day trips.
These are great ways to help the evironment. The challenge is to take it to the next level. How about using reusable sandwich containers instead of sandwich bags?
I'm slowly but surely switching all my light bulbs to CFLs. We have recycled for a while and I think it makes a big difference. I've also been carpooling whenever possible.
Hi sort of new to this site, thought I'd dive right in. I compost now, which was something I never did before. Is anyone composting at home. The city picks up the compost but I'd like to turn into fertiliser for next years garden.
