Zabitatz: Inspiration for YOUR home

Hey! I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about how to personalize a room on a low budget and with limiting time. Thanks!

Pictures can be a great way to add color to your room! One of the ways I've done this when I didn't have a lot to spend was to go to my local Goodwill/thrift store (or yard sales too now that spring is upon us), and look for a book (or magazines) with pictures I liked and could easily cut out. Then I looked for frames, and took them home to paint. Just take the glass out and clean them up, then lay them out on a drop cloth or newspaper (outside on the lawn is best) and spray paint them in whatever color you chose.

To figure out how I wanted to place/group the finished pictures on the wall, I got pieces of scrap paper, which I cut to the same sizes as each of my frames, then taped them up on the wall. Using blue painters masking tape works best, because you don't take paint off the wall as you move them around. When you get the placement just the way you want it, hang them one at a time as you take the papers down.

Hope this helps!
Great idea! I'll definitly give it a try!

If you have a sewing machine and can sew a straight line, you can really do a lot with a little bit of money. Find some great fabric that compliments your decor and make eye catching pillows or make a statment with colorful window treatments. You could also use Cammie's idea about picture frames and frame swatch of really cool fabric.
lf you are a music collector like I am you can go to flea markets yard sales and by records of various musical ports and use the albums and covers along with old sheet music to adorn either a spare room you use for office space or a bedroom or something like that. for a kitchen that is the simplest. I cook only in cast Iron and you can purchase those to put on the walls etc. I also collect pigs so a shadow box or small shelf for a few collectables that fit the kitchen and your personality. Paint is usually pretty reasonable and for my bathroom that I just redid it only cost 300 dollars compared to the 1500 I was quoted by a professional. I now have a pedistal sink place and press tile a brand new toilet and I painted the shower with special paint for showers etc. My living room is my family space but mostly reflects me I have a photo of my dad and uncle that was done when he was 4 still in the original frame. That is the first thing I put in my home and during military years I carried it with me and always put it in the living room before anything else was done and then rearranged around that photo. You can re do your whole house and still keep true to yourself and make it liveable for others through flea markets , yard sales, places like Ollies Outlet where I got my carpet for my middle bed room 9 X 12 for 175.00 I bought a used computer desk that doubles as a work space and it cost me 3 dollars to refinish same with china hutch. a buffett is always nice to put things on. When arranging record covers with or without records you can choose to cover the wall or put it in a circular or offset square type pattern or make a large frame to fit most of the wall and put them in frame in whatever design you wish refinish the frame first to go along with the colors in your room.
