Zabitatz: Inspiration for YOUR home

This is our year to host the big family thanksgiving dinner and I'm trying to get my kids involve. Not only to keep them out of my hair, but to make them feel a part of the tradition. I found this great craft idea on the Michaels's website for pinecone turkeys. I'm thinking of having my kids make them and then turn them into place cards for the table.
Materials:
Pinecones
Zucker Feathers – Satinette Loose Fall Mix
Wiggle Eyes
Foam Sheets- Red and Yellow
Chenille Stem- Brown
Craft Glue
Scissors

Instructions:
1. Glue assorted feathers into the wide end of the pinecone.
2. Cut chenille stem in half. Using one half, fold it in half and bend the folded end over to shape the head. Glue cut ends into pinecone as seen in photo.
3. Cut wattle out of red foam and glue to the side of the chenille stem head.
4. Glue wiggle eyes in place.

We need 15 of these so I figure it should keep this kids busy for a while.

Anyone have any other great ideas on how to get the kids involved with the holiday decorating?

Another idea along those lines is a Turkey made from an apple. We made them in my classroom and they were adorable!
