Zabitatz: Inspiration for YOUR home

I redid my whole house with compact fluorescent lighting. I have saved $60+ in one month. After I finished the house I switched out security lights outside with cfl. we will see what those alone will save us. those were 8 flood lights at not sure watts. and 3 chandelier lights and one 60w. while saving money I am also saving the environment. BTW, it will only take me 4-5 months to make up the money i used to upgrade with the savings i am having in electricity. The lights are built to last years. The only problem i come across from time to time is flickering. when I adjust the dimmer its usually stops. I recommend this system highly. Anybody else do this? How much have you saved.

We have CFLs in most lights in our home. We are looking for alternative for the recessed lights in our kitchen and for lamps with 3-way switches.
Wow! I didn't realize you could save this much. I've changed a few bulbs here and there, but I think I'll step it up. I need so save cash anywhere I can.
I swithed out to CFL's about 12 months ago and have saved about $30 per month on electricity. I am currently swithing from CFL's to LED lamps which I believe will cut my monthly electric bill in half. I will keep you posted. The flickering may be caused by your dimmer. Do you have dimmable CFL lamps? Standard CFL ballasts are not designed to be dimmable.
How much did you spend to change out the whole house?
