Mowing Your Lawn Greener

Ahh. The deafening hum of the mower. The sickening aroma of exhaust. Is this how you feel when you mow your lawn? If so, listen up. There is another way. Push reel mowers are popping up in neighborhoods all over the country. As gas prices rise and environmental awareness continues to grow, many mowers are turning to the past for some tips on being green.
Push reel mowers offer many advantages over popular motorized versions. They are quieter, don’t use any gas, and often do a nicer job of cutting your lawn. Plus, you’ll get a great workout. Don’t worry though, most new styles of push mowers are just as easy to push as some motorized version because they are much lighter.

One note: If you have over ½ acre of land or you have lots of steep hills, you may want to stick with the motor-powered version. But if you have a fairly small, flat lot, give it a try. Push reel mowers can be very affordable and will save you on gas and maintenance.
